Genesis: Her name announces her arrival. Her striding gait, classicized face and architectonic posture give her a presence that is more metaphysical than narrative. Genesis embodies the arrival of a soul in the world. Her processional stride suggests the heightened importance of this event. Her arrival is solitary and self-directed. The severity of her posture is softened by her feminine physique, and a flourish of ribbon that falls from her hair at the back. Genesis is best viewed from below, so a tall pedestal of at least eye-level height is best.
Genesis received the coveted Elliot Liskin Memorial Award for Sculpture by the Hudson Valley Art Association at their juried 72nd Annual Exhibition held at the Newington-Cropsey Foundation Gallery, Hasting-on-Hudson, NY.
