The first time I saw a photo of Karl Jensen's Summer Breeze in 2000, it took my breath away. For the first time since 1968 when I first read The Fountainhead, I understood what Ayn Rand meant when she described art that made a direct connection to the emotions. Finally, after four years of admiring Summer Breeze from gallery photos, and visits to the Cordair Gallery, my wife and I acquired this exquisite sculpture. In Summer Breeze, Jensen has somehow captured — in cold bronze — the warm and confident radiance of a woman clutching her silken shawl against the warm caress of a, well, summer breeze. In spite of the 27" height, Summer Breeze commands attention and immediately evokes an understanding of what is meant by Romantic Realism. Her presence in our home not only brings us great pleasure because of her extraordinary beauty, but also because of the knowledge that expressive talent such as Jensen's exists.
