BB&T Corporation, traded on the NYSE under "BBT", is a $121-billion multi-state financial institution headquartered in Winston-Salem, NC.
The painting depicts BB&T's corporate headquarters (located, in actuality, in downtown Winston-Salem) as rising from the fields of North Carolina, conveying the company's growth from its foundation as a small eastern North Carolina farm bank.
The original was installed in the corporate board room in December of 1998. BB&T Chairman & CEO John Allison writes: "I am extremely pleased with your painting for the BB&T board room. It is an excellent symbol of the success our bank has achieved and the opportunity for future growth...."
